Phil Carpenter

Phil has been in the automotive industry since 2002. He has spent time as an Audi Certified Technician, Service Advisor, Parts Specialist, Service Manager, General Manager (of the High St location from 2014 to 2019) and currently is the Director of Operations at Urban Autocare and Avalon Motorsports in Denver, CO (four locations). His credentials include an ASE Master Certification as well as an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology. Phil has led his team to win many industry awards as an independent shop manager including Motor Age Top 10 (Avalon), BBB Torch Award in 2018 (High St location) and other community awards. He is also the President of the Mechanical Division for ASA Colorado.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I love spending time with my wife and 5 children, playing soccer, hiking, and camping. Of course, also going to car shows!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I love helping people, customers, our managers, technicians, community, local schools, anything. When people are supported, they have the opportunity to thrive!

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Denver Fresh Mex for a great breakfast burrito. Park and Company for a great burger. Pho-natic for Pho of course!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
6 years

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
There is a gentlemen that walks up and down 17th Ave with a feather in his cap, a cane and a brightly colored suit almost every day. Class on a whole new level.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would go to Fiji, I want to just relax on a beautiful beach and not worry about anything.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Boondock Saints is a classic for me. Seinfeld, just so many thing in life are now funnier because it was on an episode at some point.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Make the most of each day, that doesn’t always mean to do as much as you can, its just that you have to be intentional about what you do with your time as it is a limited resource.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Traveling to all 7 continents.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love how many people are out walking or walking their dogs, even though we are in the city, you can tell people love the outdoors.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Still in Denver, I love this place. Hope to have a place in the mountains as well though.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I plead the 5th, lol.

Greece

May. Memorial day. My Birthday.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A smoked brisket that just falls apart.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife Elizabeth, she always encourages me.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
A campfire/smoking meat and pine trees in the rockies.
